Dell Inspiron 15 3000 comes with a pocket-friendly price tag and mixed results.

When it comes to Dell laptops, you can usually expect a good quality with high price tags. However, Dell Inspiron 15 3000 comes with a budget-friendly rate and some mixed reviews. This entry-level Dell laptop was unable to strike the right balance between performance and price. Let’s explore its features in detail.

The first thing you would immediately notice about Dell Inspiron 15 3000 is its all-black basic color scheme and pleasant texture, which gives it a unique appearance.

The laptop is smooth to the touch, its edges appear glossy, and it is lighter than most 15-inch laptops. Even though it’s a 15-inch laptop, Inspiron 15 3000 weighs only 4.88 pounds, which is smaller and lighter than other laptops in that category, including the HP Notebook 15.

You’ll find the charging port on the left edge, while the SD card slot, HDMI connector, exhaust vent, 2 USB ports (2.0), and a headphone jack are on the right side. A charging indicator is found at the front. Webcam is centered at the top bezel, similar to other laptops of Dell. The top right side of the deck displays the power button, while the bottom consists of a speaker, removable battery slide-lock, and a few vents.

With its 15.6-inch display, the resolution is 1366 x 768, and that isn’t exactly luxurious. It can be a bummer for editors and graphic designers because of the grainy picture quality and shrewd color quality. The screen can be ideal for tasks like writing or browsing, but not suitable for editing images.

You can also expect less sharpness that lessens the visual appeal of lighting effects and low brightness from the Inspiron 15 3000. The 170 nits of brightness offered by this laptop certainly falter against the Lenovo Chromebook Flex 5. As for the Delta-E accuracy, in which 0 is the best, the Inspiron 15 3000 achieved a score of 2.87.

With a 720p webcam, you cannot expect flashy and classic results from the Inspiron 15 3000. The backlighting doesn’t adjust well with the already dulled vision, making the photos and videos extremely pixelated and grainy.

Dell Inspiron 15 3000 Keyboard, touchpad, Audio, and Battery Life

The black deck contrasts nicely with the white keys that are scrolled with an attractive sans-serif font. You will not find a key backlight option; however, Dell guarantees a splash-proof keyboard. Inspiron 15 3000’s keyboard also comes with a number pad situated on the right side.

The touchpad produces a hollow clicking sound when pressed, which isn’t ideal.

Considering the speakers are located at the bottom, one cannot expect a clear and loud sound quality with the device. The volume levels, however, are more distinct and suitable for various sound genres.

As for the battery, the device contains a 40-watt-hour battery that can run for 7 hours. You expect almost a double battery life of 12 hours from Samsung Chromebook 4 at much cheaper rates.

Dell Inspiron 15 3000 overall performance

Our review configuration of the Dell Inspiron 15 3000 was sluggish due to a 500GB hard drive, a 4GB memory stick, and an Intel Pentium N3710 processor. While browsing the web, it seemed to stutter at random and take a long time to start up. According to our overall performance measure, the Inspiron 15 3000 scored 3,509, which is much better than some other competitive models. However, Acer Aspire 5 comes with a higher score considering it brags the same price tag as Inspiron 15 3000 initially carried.

One of the reasons why the performance took a lot of time is the storage capacity, which is only 500GB.

Due to its built-in Intel HD Graphics 405 chip, the Inspiron 15 3000 cannot perform graphics-intensive tasks or run games. With 1366 x 768 resolution, the system could only manage 21.1 frames per second when running DiRT 3. If the frame rate is below 30 fps, we deem it unplayable. A synthetic graphics test gave the Inspiron 15 3000 a score of 19,770.

One of its positive features is the numerous vents that keep the system cool. Heat levels were lower after a 15-minute video, and the device remained comfortably cool.

Dell Inspiron 15 3000 software and configuration

Though you can expect a ton of preloaded softwares from Dell, we cannot deny its many useful software utilities. Store Ads, however, are a nuisance for any device with Window 10 software, but you get the option to uninstall it from Dell Inspiron 15 3000.

Our review is based on the second-cheapest Inspiron 15 3000 of the configurations, but Dell also offers other models of the laptop. The specs are pretty much the same in the base model, except for its lower-end Intel Celeron N3060 CPU. There are also more powerful configurations in other models, but the prices are expected to be higher with these. However, all of these models come with a 1366 x 768 panel and a 40 watt per hour battery.

Final Words

In order to remain competitive, Dell did reduce the price range to a budget-friendly $110, but to compensate for that price, Inspiron 15 3000 compromised the quality of some features. However, despite mediocre performance and a dim display, Dell’s 15-inch laptop boasts a decent level of battery life, and its build quality is decent as well. If you are looking for cheap options and low-level performance, Inspiron 15 3000 can be the right choice.
